Signature Senior Lifestyle has officially opened the doors of its newest luxury care home, Signature at Hornchurch, bringing a new standard of later-life living to the London Borough of Havering.
Set on the leafy Nelmes Way, the home welcomed residents, families, local councillors, community support officers and members of the wider Hornchurch community to a grand opening celebration featuring tours of the home, refreshments and live music. The Mayor of Havering joined Signature Senior Lifestyle CEO Rob Martin and General Manager Catherine Komuhangi in marking the occasion, and the afternoon held a particularly special moment for future resident Hillary Wood, who celebrated her 84th birthday with a surprise cake and a rendition of Happy Birthday from the entire room.
For families across Havering and East London who have been searching for a luxury care home that genuinely feels like home, Signature at Hornchurch is now open and ready to welcome its first residents.
A name families across the UK trust
Signature is one of the most highly regarded care providers in the United Kingdom. In 2026 the group was named one of the Top 20 Mid-Size Care Home Groups in the UK by carehome.co.uk, the tenth consecutive year it has been recognised among the country’s very best, an accolade based entirely on reviews from residents and their families. In the same year, Signature was also recognised as one of the UK’s Top 10 Medium Care Providers in the 2026 Lottie Awards. The group’s flagship home, Highgate, was named Britain’s most luxurious care home after winning the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Award 2025, and Signature Senior Lifestyle was named Care Home Group of the Year at the Laing Buisson Awards.
That same standard of Signature care has now arrived in Havering.Â
Families across Havering can now benefit from the same award-winning care, luxurious surroundings and person-centred approach that have made Signature one of the UK’s most respected care providers.
What the opening day meant
The grand opening was more than a ribbon-cutting. It was the first real glimpse of the community Signature at Hornchurch is building.
Phillipa Wood, whose mother Hillary will soon be moving into the home, captured what the day meant to her family: “We have reassurance; we don’t need to worry anymore and we can enjoy just being with mum.”
Rob Martin, CEO of Signature Senior Lifestyle, spoke about the ambition behind the home: “We want Signature at Hornchurch to be not simply a wonderful place to live, but a vibrant community where people can build relationships, pursue their interests and continue doing the things that matter most to them. We look forward to building lasting relationships and becoming an active part of local life.”
General Manager Catherine Komuhangi added: “Seeing everyone enjoying the home together reflected exactly the kind of welcoming, vibrant community we are creating here.”
