Dementia in all its forms has been getting more and more publicity recently, and with good reason. For many, the concept of losing memory to the point of being less able to look after oneself can be more frightening that physical limitations.
Working with older people is becoming more popular with many people from all walks of life. Its exposure to good people, its possibilities as a career and, often, its flexibility are all appealing. So why should you consider it?
Unwinding with a good book is perfect whatever your age and even more ideal in later life where a calm and slower pace of life is much deserved. Everyone has a favourite genre of book, things they like to read but regardless of your taste, these five books are universally interesting, especially for older people.

It’s often in our retirement, with the combination of free time and experience, that we accomplish the things we’re most proud of. Increasingly there’s little reason for seniors to feel that anything is necessarily off-limits.
It’s no secret that people often find themselves busier after retirement than they were before. Without the 9-5 soaking up the best part of each day, seniors are free to pursue their own interests and take up just about whatever hobby they choose.
For something we do almost every night for our entire lives, sleep can be more elusive than we might expect. Especially in older age, the restorative effects of sleep are critical in maintaining energy levels through the day and avoiding stress.
Few would argue that social interactions for people in the later years of life is hugely beneficial. Spending time with friends and family, having hobbies and stimulating the mind are widely considered to be beneficial in extending quality of life.
