Introducing Mariyana Storey
Signature made a huge mark in my working career when I started my journey back in 2020. I started as the Care Supervisor on the dementia floor. Until then I never worked with people living with dementia and it seemed a huge step at that time facing a completely different environment.
Not long after I settled in my role, I was honoured to take a Dementia Care Manager position. Very quickly, dementia become my passion. I have learned so much and gained a lot of experience regarding what best in class service is as Signature, for me, provide this.
Signature gave me opportunity to complete my Level 4 Dementia Practitioner Diploma. This helped me a lot to support my team to understand what is important, to guide them and to empower them to give their best. Leading such a wonderful team at Reigate Grange’s dementia community makes me feel proud. As a Dementia Trainer, I am happy to help colleagues from all departments to understand dementia and have the right approach when facing someone vulnerable who struggles to express themselves.
For myself and my team, residents are always placed in the centre of our care respecting their personality, preferences, choices and wishes.
If there is one thing I have learned in my years of working with people living with dementia, it is that the happiest and most fulfilled people are those who devoted themselves to something bigger and more unique like helping the most vulnerable people to have the respect and live the life that they deserve, being their eyes and voice. Putting a smile on someone’s face and comforting someone that struggles to cope with their life definitely makes my day and I cannot be more happier.
We currently hold monthly dementia-friendly café events called “Hug In A Mug” which is open to the outside community where people can visit and see our wonderful home.

Read what our residents’ relatives have to say about our dementia care:
“My brother and I moved our parents to Signature at Reigate Grange last November. They had been at another residential home since July 2018 that had deteriorated in many ways. Mum and Dad have different levels of Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia, among other ailments, but since moving, they are a lot more content and comfortable. All of the staff at Reigate Grange have been kind and helpful. We have been very impressed with how our parents are being looked after and how much better they are in themselves. The team of carers have been fabulous, encouraging them to join in with the activities – which is not an easy task! The staff also keep me updated whether it is to do with changes in their medication, that they have had a haircut or a visit from the chiropodist, or that they have managed to encourage Mum to join in with the carol concert or other afternoon activities. My stress and worry levels have reduced greatly since Mum and Dad have been at Reigate Grange. I cannot thank the team enough.“ – Review from a daughter of a resident, submitted on carehome.co.uk

HOW WE CARE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA
Recognising the unique needs of each resident living with dementia, we invest time in building personalised relationships with each individual from day one. This involves gaining comprehensive insights into their family background, preferences, likes, dislikes and significant life events. By devoting this valuable time to our residents, we are able to develop tailored care plans and custom activity programs designed specifically for each person, maximising their abilities and fostering independence. These care plans are reviewed daily and adjusted to reflect changes in residents’ interests, abilities and requirements. As a registered nursing home, we provide continuous care throughout the dementia journey, with a dedicated team available 24/7. This ensures peace of mind, knowing that your loved one receives comprehensive support in one location. We invite you to discover how we can enhance your loved one’s quality of life with dementia. Care Monitoring Technology
Reigate Grange is leading the way in incorporating the latest care monitoring technology spearheaded by Jayne Connery, with Care Campaign for the Vulnerable (CCFTV). She and CCFTV advocate for the compulsory implementation of independently evaluated safety monitoring camera systems in all care facilities. Signature Senior Lifestyle sponsored CCFTV from September 2023 for a full year where this partnership follows a six-month collaborative effort of working together to trial safety monitoring technology in the bedrooms of dementia residents at Signature at Reigate Grange. Throughout the trial, the Care Protect safety monitoring system was deployed with all cameras being monitored independently by care professionals and AI technology that remains active at all times, capable of detecting potential incidents automatically. This initiative aims to provide an elevated level of supervision and assurance for residents, their loved ones and caregivers.
‘”My Life” Dementia Care Pathway
Signature’s care homes follow the “My Life” dementia care pathway. This provides residents and relatives with a clear, person-centred plan for their dementia support. Find out more here.
