Dementia Care in Ascot

Signature at Ascot provides a specialised community tailored for individuals living with dementia. Our purpose-built residence offers a selection of private apartments within a distinct community, ensuring residents feel comfortable and at ease in their new home. This setup facilitates close relationships between our expert dementia care teams and residents, fostering a sense of familiarity and comfort in their own space.

Each apartment is thoughtfully crafted for those with dementia, featuring serene and inviting décor that exudes a familial atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to personalise their living space with familiar items from home such as family photos or cherished furniture. Our team collaborates with families to customise each resident’s room for optimal comfort, design and layout, promoting independence. Introducing Shahida Mumin

I am delighted to have joined the outstanding team at Signature at Ascot since February 2023, committed to bringing my passion for care and over nine years of experience in Residential, Dementia, Nursing and Palliative Care. As the Dementia Care Manager, I am here to support the team in delivering exceptional person-centred care to our residents and I am passionate about all people living within a care setting being able to lead a happy and fulfilled life in the right environment. Having completed a BSc in Health Care Management, I aim to continue, along with the team, implementing new ideas to ensure we are reaching outstanding levels of care and a good quality of life for our residents living with dementia.

I manage two dementia communities in the home – we opened our third floor called Tree Tops in September 2024. Both the second and third floor are specifically designed for individuals living with dementia. Both floors have terrace gardens for residents to access outside areas to join in with sensory gardening activities. Our residents enjoy listening to the sounds of the Royal Ascot races and even the bright and colourful fireworks evening which can be seen from the terraces.

I implement and integrate the ‘My Life’ Strategy that Signature have designed, aimed at enhancing the lives of those living with dementia. The strategy focuses on five key stages for how someone living with dementia can be supported at each and every point of their lives. Our team members working in Signature at Ascot are provided with high quality training with one of our significant training sessions that takes place is ‘Dementia Immersion Training’, which is offered to our loved ones too. The sessions teach us how best to empathise with someone living with dementia so we can truly understand how day-to-day living is for them.

Signature at Ascot have collaborated with our local Age UK team and are currently running a Dementia Café in the Royal Foresters pub, London Road, Ascot, SL5 8DR. This event is held on every second Tuesday of every month with different activities. We encourage our residents to join in and embrace the community in Ascot.

Read what our residents’ relatives have to say about our dementia care:

“I was compelled to find a care home for my wife (who had started her dementia ‘journey’) after she fell and broke a hip. I was fortunate in finding a vacancy in this wonderful establishment. My wife, now living ‘in the moment’, is happy and content where she is. All her daily and individual needs are met with kindness, great care and gentle good humour by the entire team, nurses, carers, management and support staff. The home goes beyond meeting only the physical and nutritional well-being of its residents. The management culture is to provide a daily programme of activities which contribute to emotional and mental stimulation and building a community relationship. The home is a cross between a good quality hotel and restaurant, and a family home administered by sons and daughters who love their older relatives.” – Review from a husband of a resident, submitted on carehome.co.uk

Dementia Care Facilities

Putting our residents’ needs first, we’ve considered every detail. Clearly marked rooms, intuitive navigation, accessibility and understanding are paramount in our community.

We take pride in creating a secure and comforting atmosphere, offering ample quiet spaces for relaxation. Additionally, residents within these communities enjoy access to the main communal areas on the ground floor which feature a salon, café, library, and outdoor gardens.

HOW WE CARE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA

Recognising the unique needs of each resident living with dementia, we invest time in building personalised relationships with each individual from day one. This involves gaining comprehensive insights into their family background, preferences, dislikes, and significant life events.

By devoting this valuable time to our residents, we are able to develop tailored care plans and custom activity programmes designed specifically for each person, maximising their abilities and fostering independence. These care plans are reviewed daily and adjusted to reflect changes in residents’ interests, abilities and requirements.

As a registered nursing home, we provide continuous care throughout the dementia journey, with a dedicated team available 24/7. This ensures peace of mind, knowing that your loved one receives comprehensive support in one location.

We invite you to discover how we can enhance your loved one’s quality of life with dementia. Schedule a visit to arrange your personalised tour and consultation.
