Now in its 7th year, National Care Home Open Day encourages all care homes to open their doors and celebrate a different theme. This year it is Art, its value to individuals, and how to some it has opened new doors and opportunities. At Coombe Hill Manor you don’t have to be a master artist to benefit from the creative participation in drawing, painting or artwork. Today, two of our keen artist residents, Irene Ball and Jo Ryeland, were interviewed by Greg McKenzie for the Vanessa Feltz Breakfast Show at BBC Radio London. Greg immediately put the ladies at ease and soon they were talking about everything from astro-turf to twin brothers, and everything in between. The interview highlighted the importance of creative art in a care setting, encouraging self-expression, shared emotions whilst also building new friendships. Coombe Hill Manors talented artist and Activities Manager Lisa Maria Ortiz was on hand to support our ladies. Come and visit us this Friday and see where the magic happens.
