We have an artist called Ray Butler who has been visiting the Beeches for quite a while now. He works on the dementia unit, Woodlands as the residents there do get an awful lot of benefit from this particular activity. We have previously held art displays in which we invited in families and hold twice monthly workshops on Woodlands where each resident is encouraged to show what they are able to do.
Many of the residents get a lot out of painting, drawing, printing or just putting pieces together. Many of the residents initially were hesitant and said that they couldn’t draw or paint but after some encouragement they proved that they can indeed draw and they do it with so much enthusiasm and passion and that shows in the pieces that they produce. Ray also loves coming to the Beeches and enjoys watching the progress of his students.
