Music is often said to be therapeutic and relaxing as well as a multitude of other benefits. It can also take an individual back in time to what they were doing or how they were feeling when they last listened to a particular song. Here at Parklands Manor music plays an important part in our weekly routine. We love to dance and exercise to music, and now we have the privilege of the local radio station broadcasting once a month from our very own café.

Radio Wey is a local hospital radio in North Surrey that has been running since 1965 and for the last three months, we have been lucky to have their team broadcast from our café for two hours. They bring all of their necessary kits and get a coffee and pastry to sustain them whilst in return the residents get to sit back, relax and enjoy listening to music from their favourite era’s.

All sorts of music from; from Frank Sinatra and The Andrews Sisters to some more obscure music that we haven’t heard in years! At any point, residents can make requests for songs which enables them to feel part of the experience.
The best part about being a part of a radio show is that you can dance all you like in the comfort of your own home!

It also gives us as a community an opportunity to announce to local listeners what events are going on at the home.
We recommend linking up with your local radio station to everyone.
