The date September 17th. Location, the Otter Café at Parklands Manor.
Residents and staff all gather around, full of excitement as we they waited for our visitor to arrive.
We were greeted by Lucy, the Zoolab expert who was carrying a large mysterious box. All the residents where very intrigued to know what was inside the box. As Lucy was setting up she told us a little about herself. As a child she loved animals and a trip to the zoo helped her decide that she wanted to care for animals, and so she has done.
She started off by showing us a lovely giant snail from Africa! We learnt that the snail’s slime was in fact a great hand moisturiser. The residents and staff were not very keen on having the huge snail in their hands but certainly was amazed. One by one she showed us more animals such as; a cockroach, millipede, lizard, rat and of course a snake! Lucy was fantastic as she gave us great information about our guests.
The afternoon was filled with great emotions and excitement as it brought the whole Parklands community together. A fantastic experience that our residents and staff will not forget!
