The sun was shining on Saturday 25th August when the Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Dolsie Clarke and her Consort, Dr Brian Payne visited the Parklands Manor Care Home stand at the Egham Royal Show. The Mayor and her Consort were thrilled to see that Parklands Manor were organising a raffle to win a hamper with all the proceeds for such a worthwhile charity ‘Dementia Carers Support’.
Parklands Manor is a new care home located opposite St Peter’s Hospital, specialising in residential, nursing and dementia care.
Sonia Hamilton-Martin, Client Liaison Manager, said ‘this was the first time we have exhibited at the Egham Royal Show and how amazing that it was their 160th year.’ Sonia also said ‘we chose the charity ‘Dementia Carers Support’ founded by Frances Dyble-Goode, who was the winner of Parklands Manor’s competition to find an ‘unsung hero’, as often carers are the forgotten ones’.
The winner of the raffle was Mr John Taylor, who lives in Fleet and loves to visit the Show every year. Mr Taylor said ‘although people often say this but I can say truthfully, I never win raffles and so this is a great surprise’.
