This year, NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) gave care homes the challenge of celebrating the Commonwealth. We chose four Commonwealth countries to represent: India, Australia, Cyprus and Jamaica. Residents were involved in making decorations for the food tables.
In the morning, we had Melissa do a demonstration of Bollywood dance. Residents found it really interesting and some even had a go at some seated Bollywood moves.
In the afternoon, we had decorated four stations around the bistro to represent the four countries. Residents went around the world sampling different food from those countries and learning interesting facts about them. On the Indian table there were onion bhajis, and halloumi on the Cypriot table.
Everybody enjoyed the different food, dancing and learning about different countries.
