There is no better time of the year to celebrate and have fun than at Christmas. The Activities Team were determined that there was going to be lots of Christmas magic and festive sparkle in December.
We enjoyed many of the brilliant entertainers including Addlestone Singers who performed lots of wonderful carols all dressed in matching Christmas scarves. We also welcomed back Caolan Walport on the harp, and Mary Gorniak on the flute.
Radio Wey came back to Parklands this month and did a special Christmas broadcast from the Otter Café with all of our best loved Christmas songs of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
We also made a Christmas reminiscing box, filling a trunk full of images from Christmas’ past which provided lots of nostalgia and stimulated conversations about how Christmas was when we were younger. It included old Radio Times covers, pictures of towns and shops decorated with lights, and information on traditions of Christmas around the world.
The residents also helped to make a Christmas tree advent calendar for them all to enjoy with a Christmas activity or event in each pocket and a chocolate. Another advent calendar was made for The Meadows as well, filled with chocolate.
We enjoyed lots of trips including, a drive round the local area to look at the lights. Residents enjoyed a trip to the Theatre to see Craig Revel Horwood play the ugly Stepmother in Cinderella, and there was a trip to a carol concert at Guildford Cathedral.
