Floral Tribute to the Fallen

We were invited by a local church, St Christophers at Weyhill to be part of the floral tributes to remember all those who lost their lives in WW1. The arrangements spanned all ages from our residents at Moorlands Lodge contributing to local brownies and youth groups.
The poem given to the residents of Moorlands Lodge was My Boy Jack:
“Have you news of my boy Jack?”
Not this tide.
“When d’you think that he’ll come back?”
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.

“Has any one else had word of him?”
Not this tide.
For what is sunk will hardly swim,
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.

“Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?”
None this tide,
Nor any tide,
Except he did not shame his kind —
Not even with that wind blowing, and that tide.

Then hold your head up all the more,

This tide,
And every tide;
Because he was the son you bore,
And gave to that wind blowing and that tide!
The residents used a mixture of blue/purple and white flowers and collected artefacts from around Moorlands to use in the display.
Other residents were then lucky to visit the Flower Display on the Sunday afternoon and indulge in a delicious afternoon tea.
