Dementia Awareness Week is looking a little different this year but we wanted to adapt and have a good time with our lovely residents who live on the Meadows.
First of all, on Wednesday we had a good old-fashioned sing along with a V.E. Day theme! We put up the large screen, moved the tables and chairs away and had a dance to some of the classics that everybody knows and loves like ‘Edelweiss’ from The Sound of Music and ‘Que Sera Sera’ by Doris Day.
The Activities Team were dressed up in patriotic wartime outfits again and Union Jack flags were handed out to all who participated. One resident said it was like ‘the good old days.’
Then on Thursday we had a pizza and movie afternoon. The residents laughed at Norman Wisdom’s funniest moments and enjoyed a treat of pizza and were able to add extra cheese if they wished!
We have more plans in the coming weeks for another special event in the Meadows and we will keep you posted.
