Introducing the Hendon Hall team

At Signature, our recruitment and training processes are carefully structured to select and support individuals who not only possess exceptional dedication and potential but also resonate with our company philosophy. Our award-winning care team is deeply committed to delivering care that is highly attuned to individual preferences and requirements.

Exceptional care extends far beyond the realm of physical health and we have specialist teams dedicated to overseeing other important facets such as hospitality, activities, dining and more.

General Manager

Michelle Whitmill

I have worked for Signature for around 4 years as a General Manager. I am a nurse and have worked in care homes for the past 15 years. I have 4 children, who are 21, 20, 12 and 9yrs old. They are kind enough to keep me busy as their chauffer and entertaining their friends! When I do get some time to myself, I do enjoy tinkering with Max – my Mazda MX-5.

Client Liaison Manager

Rakhee Popat

Working in the hospitality industry for ten and half years has developed my love for engaging with and supporting people, building on relationships while also understanding what truly is meaningful to others. I am excited and grateful to be working for such a wonderful company that employs compassionate and caring people who offer our residents exceptional service, a sense of security, a great community feel and help residents live their lives to the fullest. As a Client Liaison manager, I offer my full support, trust and guidance, as well as a listening ear. Not only when you first come and visit us, but throughout your journey on moving to your new home. Peace of mind is ultimately the most important factor when choosing a care home, so I am excited to meet you, and your loved ones, to talk about what you need from us and what we can offer you here at Signature at Hendon Hall.

Client Liaison Manager

Julie Chanel

I am delighted to have joined the team at Signature Hendon Hall. I have been working in care homes for over 12 years and love supporting people to make the right decision about caring for their loved ones. My own mother had dementia so I have first-hand experience of searching for the right care option. I am also a trustee of a dementia charity, a role which I really value. I look forward to supporting people on their care journey.

Clinical Services Manager

Fiona Dennehy

After qualifying with a Masters in Nursing Science in 2012, I have been lucky enough to work throughout the UK and Australia within a wide range of specialities including accident and emergency, private healthcare, a maximum security prison and more recently have spent the last 5 years working within a hospice. Whilst at the hospice, I moved quickly into management and became responsible for a team of wonderful nurses and carers, delivering specialist end of life care and symptom management to those with life-limiting diseases. I also led infection control, to ensure practice on the wards was both safe and up-to-date with any policy changes. I have worked in the care sector all my life and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. There is nothing more rewarding than making a positive impact in the lives of others and witnessing this first-hand. I have a clear passion for person-centred care and empowering others to become active participants – hence why I was attracted to Signature at Hendon Hall due to its ethos and values. I look forward to the challenges a new home represents, joining a fabulous team and the relationships that we will build with residents, their families and loved ones.

Dementia Care Manager

Lizzi Smith

I have been lucky enough to have worked for Signature since 2018 and have had the pleasure of working for this great company, who have encouraged and mentored me to take the next step in my career. I am truly excited to be starting at Hendon Hall, working alongside a caring and empathetic team who all share the same ethos and values for delivering the best care possible. I have worked in the care sector for the last 20 years, which has given me a great foundation and understanding to enable me to deliver the highest standards of person-centred care, ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling life. I am passionate about ensuring our residents get the best out of every day and believe they can achieve anything with the right support, due care and attention. I feel passionately that our residents and their loved ones receive the right support and holistic advice whilst on their Dementia and Alzheimer’s journey and the team at Hendon Hall offer this support with compassion and dignity in this wonderful and luxurious setting.

Assisted Living Care Manager

Fathiya Hassan

I have worked in care for 12 years, having started first in domiciliary care, then as a Care Assistant in a care home where I progressed to Team Leader. I gained my NVQ2 in Health and Social Care during this time. I have mostly worked in dementia care. Prior to that, I had worked in business administration, but I felt that due to having three children, care would suit me better. Having come from Africa where care homes are not available when my grandad became unwell, I wished more support could have been available for him. I now work in memory of him and give 100% to make him proud. When I joined Signature, I was looking for progression and development. I started as a Care Supervisor, then was promoted in October to Assisted Living Care Manager. The growth I desired has been available to me and I am excited to progress even further in the future. I have learnt a lot and I work with a great group of people who really feel like a family.

Nurse Care Manager

Mary Vergara

I have been a qualified nurse for 12 years and  I am grateful  enough to have experienced different specialties spanning adult rehabilitation specialising in brain and spinal injuries, elderly care, general surgery and even paediatrics and general medicine. Being able to make a difference in the lives of others is my driving force since I started my career in nursing — not everyone gets this chance. I started my nursing in the Philippines and moved to London eight years ago and built my career and family life here. I am passionate about delivering the highest standard of care to residents that exceeds expectations, ensuring they are supported in all aspects of care and providing support to their loved ones as well. I also believe that fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere in the care environment makes a huge impact on one’s well-being. I joined Signature at Hendon Hall in March 2022 and I feel blessed to have been given this role to lead our amazing team of nurses and make a difference in the crucial moments in our residents’ lives.

Head Chef

David Sharp

What I enjoy most about Signature at Hendon Hall is the interaction with the residents. I feel this is a major highlight as I get to know them individually and can discuss their dietary needs. Doing so, I am about to find out their likes and dislikes, which I can then share with the rest of the kitchen team, therefore providing the best dining experience possible, whilst fulfilling their nutritional requirements.
