General Manager

I started with Signature in December 2018, at The Beeches , Brentwood, Essex , I was very proud to call it home for just over three years.  During that time I achieved the accolade of ‘The Care Home Registered Manager’  finalist in the Great British Care Awards for the London Region in 2021.

I now have been given the opportunity to open new home , Signature of Barnet. Myself and the Team are very excited to start welcoming our residents in the coming months.

I have several years’ experience in managing Care and Nursing facilities in London, as well as over 25 years management experience working in the Health, Leisure and Fitness Industry before I made the decision to move in to the Care Sector, which is one of the best decisions I have ever made!  Working in the Leisure industry sounds a million miles away from what I am doing now, however you will be surprised  on how many similarities there are, especially when it comes to ensuring that the care , safety and wellbeing of our Residents, Relatives and staff are at the forefront of the decisions I make in regards to the day to day running of the home.

I am extremely proud and privileged to be part of an organisation that truly believes in providing the best care , enabling residents to be who they are, enjoy life , be happy , make friendships, remain active, and ensures everyone is treated  with the upmost dignity and respect. As well as investing in our Staff and ensuring that they are the best at what they do.

Customer Liaison Manager

I am thrilled to work as a Customer Liaison Manager at Signature Barnet opening in Winter 2021.

I have a wealth of sales, marketing and customer service experience having worked in the hospitality industry and luxury hotels for four years and nine years of other working experience in a sales and customer centric roles.

I am passionate about helping our prospective residents in their search for care and building caring relationships. I really want to make a positive difference to the lives of each of our residents by ensuring residents can maintain an independent lifestyle just like they would in, their own homes.

My role at Signature at Barnet involves meeting and speaking to prospective residents and their families at the initial enquiry stage, guiding them throughout their journey of selecting the right home, giving advice and support during their move in journey.

I am extremely proud and privileged to be part of the Signature family. I was attracted to the organisation’s ethos and values, where we have a real focus to provide exceptional care delivered by exceptional people in the highest quality of homes. I look forward to welcoming you into our home soon.

Swapnil Shinde

Hospitality Manager

In my role of Hospitality manager, I will be managing an engaged and dedicated team to deliver luxury Hospitality throughout the home to our residents and their families. I am committed to delivering the highest standards of service and satisfaction. I’m adept at managing large teams and appreciate the importance of consistency.

Prior to joining Signature at Barnet, I worked for Signature Wimbledon and Wandsworth.

Previously I worked in the hotel industry at The Metropolitan Hotel, Park Lane in London. I have a post graduate qualification in Hospitality Management, and I believe I bring passion, creativity, and style to my role.

Coming to a care home environment was initially challenging but offered tremendous satisfaction and opportunities and I was confident that I could improve the quality of our residents’ lives with my track record gained working in luxury environments.

Mark Arrowsmith.

Dementia Care Manager

I have 10 years of working experience in the care sector and  I am passionate  for elderly care and have predominantly worked with people living with dementia for the majority of my career. I always strive to go above and beyond for other, in all that I do. Ensuring the upmost care, compassion and kindness to the day to day lives of people in my care, it is at the heart of everything I do for others.

I have great knowledge and understanding of dementia care and how I can best support people living with dementia. I have worked in roles as senior carer, lifestyle lead, Head of Wellbeing and now as the Dementia Care Manager for Signature at Barnet.

I have worked closely with the Alzheimer’s Society and I am proud to say I am a Dementia Champion. I have facilitated and been involved many dementia trainings and developments of dementia strategies for organisations who provide care for people living with dementia.

My greatest passion at work is support people to live well & happy life, and to ensure that each individual receives the upmost compassion and person centred care tailored to their needs and preferences.

My proudest moments in care have been, the honour of being part of people’s lives who have experiences and memories of which I feel have taught me a lot. Also being part of peoples journey, to stand by them and to be an advocate for everyone to receive outstanding care at all times.

Vanessa Hale

People Services Manager

I joined Signature at Barnet in July 2021 and in October 2021, I was thrilled to be promoted to People Services Manager. I have been made to feel very welcome by the respective Signature teams and greater company.

I have worked in the Care Sector for over 5 years in various employee management and HR roles having previously worked 16 years for Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Being part of a new home opening is very exciting and as the People Services Manager, I will be here for all our staff on-boarding and training and will strive for a positive and encouraging working environment. I value all our staff and believe in an open-door policy.

I am very proud to work for a company that provides exceptional care and luxury living for residents and am really looking forward to the opening of both of these beautiful homes and building two fantastic new teams that will ensure our residents receive the best care.

Monica Dragu

Care Services Manager

I started my journey with Signature at Barnet in September 2021 as Clinical Service Manager. My nursing career started in 2010, gaining experience from different roles that I had in management in private healthcare sector. I have found my passion in working with elderly and providing excellent services and care, which enables and empowers people to have the best quality of life. Having the opportunity to work as part of Signature team it gives me the opportunity to strive for excellence by putting in practice the skills and knowledge gained in care, over the years.

I am extremely privileged to be part of Signature at Barnet project and I am looking forward for the opening of the home.

Alexandra Ellwood

Residential Care Manager

My journey into the Health and Social care setting started after obtaining a First Degree Honors in Art and Design at Loughborough University, I made the choice to defer my career to care for my Grandfather, which transpired to be my other passion in life.

I have worked in the Care sector since 2009 and progressed to Deputy Home Manager position and also trusted and trained as Home Manager taking sole responsibility for the Home in the Home Managers absence. This has given me a great understanding to achieve the highest quality standards with the residents being at the heart of everything I do and I have a great appreciation for the responsibilities that have been entrusted to me.

My passion, dedication and determination for believing everyone should be treated as I would like my own family member to be treated is what has driven me to this position. As Residential Care Manager at Signature, my role involves being responsible for the delivery of residential care for all residents, ensuring a person centered approach and maintaining their wellbeing. I am proud to work for such a prestigious company.

I thrive to support others and my greatest achievement in life is being able to look back on my career and be proud of the individuals I have helped, as I believe it’s not the days in your life that are important, but the lives within your day that matter most.


Iona Atlas

Nursing Care Manager

As a qualified nurse with over fifteen years of experience in the elderly sector, I feel very privileged to start my journey with Signature at Barnet. Being part of the opening team of our beautiful home is an opportunity to provide the highest standards of person centred care though the duration of this journey.

My driving passion is offering the ones we care for a high quality of life, making sure they enjoy fulfilling and happy lives. I believe that Signature at Barnet is the setting where empathy, passion and outmost respect for the people we care for, would be a solid foundation for providing the standards of care I have always strived for.

My role as a Nursing care Manager amongst other duties and responsibilities  involves coordinating the resident assessment process, ensuring that the plan care day is accurate and reflected in the care needs summary , Support move in process, ensuring the development of a person centered care plan, availability of equipment in room., Visit potential residents in order to carry out an initial care needs assessment, developing the care needs summary & Ensuring that all relevant information in respect of each resident is communicated using the most appropriate method; Team Management, Governance, Auditing and Complaint / Concern Handling, Medication Management, Care Planning and Delivery, & compliance with Health and Safety.

I am looking forward to working with my fantastic team of qualified nurses, together building a home within a home for those in our care.

Maintenance Manager

It is an honour and a privilege to be opening my second new build home for Signature since I joined the company in 2018. I am so looking forward to welcoming and keeping safe our residents in their home. I thoroughly enjoy my job role within Signature, and I have won a national UK care award in 2019. This was one of the proudest moments of my life so far, which will stay with me forever more. I have previously worked many years in the hospitality industry, working my way up from head grounds keeper, all the way up to chief engineer. I totally enjoyed and embraced my time within the industry, but I knew from the start of my employment at Signature, that the care industry was where my true future heads”
