General Manager

Emma Franklin

I first started working in the care industry at the age of 16 years while still at college. I worked as a Housekeeper part time.  I started spending more time with the residents & realised my passion for care at a young age. I left college & became a full-time care assistant.  I spent my first 10 years in care before I decided to go travelling, visiting Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia & South America over a period of 18 months.

When I returned, I worked for a company Sunrise Senior Living for the next 14 years developing my career from a Senior Care Assistant to Assisted living Coordinator, then onto a Regional Care Coordinator which took me into supporting a Home & I then became General Manager.  I finally left Sunrise Senior Living to take an opportunity with Signature Senior Lifestyle firstly as the General Manager at Elton House & then transferred to Bentley House. I have now worked in the care industry for 30 years & feel just as passionate about looking after our residents now as I did when I was 16 years of age.

I have experience of working with different client groups, such as: dementia, learning disabilities, assisted living, nursing and residential care.

I am a very hardworking and passionate person. As the residential manager, I believe that it is important to be approachable and willing to help others. I pride myself in having a friendly and open approach to residents, staff, and the families of residents.

Dementia Care Manager

Carol Quinn

When I was at school my ambition was always to be a nurse for as long as I can remember.

Didn’t like school much so when I was 15 I left school and was lucky to be employed as a cadet nurse. I was excited and spent 3 years in that position, after which I trained to become a nurse for those with special needs and years later trained as a general nurse.

Deviated once after my son was born and I moved back up north. I was “Matron” in charge of what seemed like hundreds of babies and small children in Pontins Holiday camp. Quite an experience.

I have worked in a care home setting for the past 27 years!

Many years have passed since my time as a cadet nurse, but I still have the same passion for caring for people.

I have a son still living at home, and a daughter and one beautiful grandson who now live in Spain so enjoy trips to the sun.

Nursing Manager

Shiji Mathew

I have been working in care/nursing industry for 28 years. I graduated as BSc Nurse in 1992 in India. Started my career as nurse since then. Initial 2 years I worked in India in a Multi Super Specialty Medical College Hospital, from nurse role to Ward In charge role.
In 1994 I moved to Kuwait, worked in Ministry of health in surgical unit as nurse to Ward in charge.
In 2006 moved to UK and started my career in UK. Worked for few health care providers in different roles such as nurse, Dementia manager, Deputy Manager and home manager.
When Bentley house about to open I always used to tell my colleagues that I am going to Bentley House when it opens. My word came true. I got the job as nurse at Bentley house and started my career with Signature. I promoted as nursing care manager in 2019.
I am responsible for managing the nursing team and to work with them in making clinical decisions, to make a difference in our resident’s lives where possible. I love my team and really appreciate their hard work and team spirit. The team is very dedicated in their role. I feel very privileged to be part of such a lovely, caring team who are dedicated to maintaining the best quality of life for all our residents.

Maintenance Manager

James Broughton

I joined Bentley house in September 2022 coming in from a non-care background of construction and hospitality. I haven’t looked back, it has been a pleasure to work alongside my colleagues and even more of a pleasure to build friendships with our residents here.

I started on building sites from a young age and continued on and off till I moved to the UK from Ireland in 2012. When I initially moved over I got into the hospitality sector and ended up running restaurants for 5 years. I decided to get back into  construction/maintenance in 2017, managing the maintenance team in a Grade 1 listed, 150 year old country house which operated as a hotel.

I consider myself a hardworking, self-motivated, and determined individual who takes pride in their work. I would regard myself as a polite, friendly person who is confident when communicating with others.
