Queen Elizabeth’s Green Canopy

How Signature is Contributing

Queen Elizabeth’s Green Canopy is intended to honour and remember Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. At Signature we stay contributing to the community and in our home gardens. One organisation our homes got involved in is The Queen’s Green Canopy.

This is an initiative that began in May 2021 in the UK in honour of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 the aim being to increase and protect the native tree cover. The nationwide initiative was launched in order to mark Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee and is continuing until March 2023 to honour her passing. Environmental benefits for this organisation show that well-placed trees can help cool the air between 2 and 8 degrees in urban communities. When the planting season wrapped up, Queen Elizabeth II issued a statement of thanks.

We encouraged as many homes to get involved in the initiative as possible, as the national campaign’s slogan was “Plant A Tree For The Jubilee”. More than a million trees have already been planted across the UK as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.

In total 11 Signature care homes planted trees as part of the initiative; most of which planted their trees with both an official ‘Queens Green Canopy’ plaque and a personalised Signature plaque. Bagshot and Bassett have been registered on The QGC’s map.
