Celebrating International Nurses Day

In the midst of the current global pandemic, there has never been a more appropriate time to celebrate the incredible work that nurses do across the globe – helping to care for people and keep them safe when they most need it.

It’s because of this that International Nurses Day comes at a perfect time. The annual occasion is celebrated on May 12th, around the world – with the date chosen due to it being  the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

Last year, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) had already planned for 2020 to be a big year for the nursing world, with it representing 200 years since Nightingale’s birth. With 2020 previously being hailed as The Year of the Nurse and Midwife, it seems fitting to celebrate all that this wonderful profession does to ensure that people are able to live happy and healthy lives – particularly in the midst of the outstanding work that nurses are doing on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic.

ICN President Annette Kennedy said that she was expecting 2020 to be a momentous year for the profession: “All around the world, nurses are working tirelessly to provide the care and attention people need, whenever and wherever they need it.”

The Signature Care Home Nurses

At Signature Senior Lifestyle, we understand that our nurses are what make our care homes so special. Our team is kind and compassionate, proactive and accountable – but more than anything, they’re passionate about helping us to cultivate a happy, welcoming environment within our properties. They commit to making a real difference to the lives of our residents, both physically and emotionally.

Our staff members show such devotion to their role, and we truly stand by the statement that “companies don’t actually do anything – people who work for us do”. Without our incredible nurses, we wouldn’t be able to offer the service that we’re so proud of.

If you’re interested in becoming a valued member of our nursing team, then please take a look at our current available roles. Or, learn more about our team and why they make our care homes so special.

We’d like to say a big thank you to all of our nurses on International Nurses Day 2020; for their commitment to excellence, their exceptional levels of care, and their focal role in helping us create welcoming spaces for our residents.
