On Friday we went to the Milestone Museum in Basingstoke which is a recreational village illustrating life in the ’40s and ’50s. We were amazed at how real everything looked, from the authentic Victorian schoolroom to the interactive information around every corner informing us of the war effort.

Upon entering you receive your National Registration Card and your ration book to spend at the pub on a pint or on a bag of sweets at the sweetshop. We really enjoyed picking out our sweets and getting our ration book stamped.

The village includes an air raid shelter, antique shop, village shop, garage, train station a tram and bus.

There is a traditional arcade where we played games like the Grand National Run and table hockey!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day out and can’t wait to take more residents to enjoy what the Milestone Museum has to offer.
