On Tuesday 14th February, the Activities Team at South Lodge combined two very important events together. They celebrated Valentine’s Day, and they also spent the day wearing red to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation’s Wear Heart Day.
The staff and residents were invited to wear red on this day, and there was a collection box on the Reception desk for everyone to contribute to.
We also came up with the idea of “Art for Hearts” where the staff’s children and grandchildren were invited to create their own Valentine’s day cards, which were then sold to raise extra funds for the British Heart Foundation. Everyone loved how creative the young children had been, our youngest artist being just 1 and ½ years old.
We finished the day with a lovely get-together in the Activity Room where we hosted a Prosecco and Dessert Party and local singer Eleanor came to provide us with some fantastic vocals. We had 25 residents participating and singing along during this party and everyone left with a big smile on their faces and at the same time we managed to raise lots of money for a very worthy charity!
