On the 14th of August, we had our first Bollywood evening at Signature Loxley Park, in Sheffield. We invited Kinder Kalsi, who came along with his daughter.
They brought along some traditional clothing, which included saris and scarves for both staff and members to experience and wear throughout the evening.
They also brought along some decorations, bunting, table covers to decorate the reception area, and the Activities Team and members made some traditional lanterns to add to the atmosphere.
Our resident chef made some traditional Indian snacks, which included onion bhajis and pakoras. These were handed out to the members. It was a great experience for one of our ladies who at the great age of 92 had never experienced Indian food.
Kinder showed a display of dance movements and the Activity Team joined in on a dance routine, which all the members enjoyed and clapped to. Along with this, everyone took part in a quiz involving questions about the history of India. There was also a talk on the background and heritage of himself and his family.
He gave the chance for questions from the members, which he was happy to answer.
On a whole, it was a new experience for the members and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
This is the definitely the beginning of something new at Loxley Park.
