It has been a while since we did some baking at Coombe Hill, so our activities assistant, Anne Conquest, and resident Anne Convey, our “official” baker, got together last Wednesday, April 12th, to make simnel cakes.
We did some shopping before, to get the ingredients, then properly organised them on the table.
Once we had all the quantities right, there was nothing left to do besides get on with the baking.
It was not long before the smell filled up the air in the activities room and throughout the whole building.
Shortly after, we had residents and staff coming to us, after the lovely smell.
Once they were all done, we sat down to enjoy the simnel cakes, as well as a lovely cup of tea.
