With the London 2012 Olympics in full swing, Signature Miramar’s residents are as gripped as the rest of the nation with the events taking place in the capital and across the country. And to celebrate the first home games in more than 60 years, they were treated to a surprise visit from one of London 2012’s Olympic torch bearers, Ray Fisk.

Mr Fisk, who is good friends with the staff and residents at Signature Miramar, was selected to carry the torch through Herne Bay in recognition of his voluntary work for the local MS Society and the East Kent area Boys’ Brigade, to which he has dedicated many years’ service.

The residents enjoyed seeing the torch and many of them took the opportunity to hold it for a short time. This was a special joy for remarkable former athletes who reside at Signature Miramar, including marathon runner Stanley and runner Corrie, who was also celebrated skier.

The fun and games didn’t stop there – Ray also helped the residents to plant a rose bush in the Miramar’s much-loved gardens to mark the occasion.
