Meet the Team
We would like to introduce you to the Miramar team.
If I had to choose three words to describe myself they would be: caring, hardworking and tenacious.
I like to find out what makes people happy and then do my best to achieve this.
As a nurse for more than 30 years, I have had the great privilege to be a part of so many lives. My career started off at the Kent and Canterbury School of Nursing, in Canterbury. Through the years I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of areas. From a General Nurse to specialisms in orthopaedics, surgery, and oncology. I have worked as a senior nurse in the NHS and Independent sectors, as a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist, and as a Director of Clinical Services.
My skills have been in recognising the strengths and motivations of each individual and supporting them to be the best they can be.
I truly believe that my Team at the Miramar have the skills to deliver exceptional, positive and devoted care. Together, we will manage the challenges and find ways to make the experience of all those who pass through the doors of Signature Miramar enjoyable, happy, safe and, above all, centred around the needs of each individual.
Nurse Care Manager
Nurse Care Manager
I worked as a community nurse for 7 years before my midwifery training.
During my time as a midwife, although I enjoyed my work, I realised that my heart was really in nursing and I missed the interaction and continuity of care.
Afterwards, I moved into the private sector and became an elderly care nurse, specialising in dementia care.
I am passionate about person-centred care and promoting independence. I want the people in my attention to feel important and really provided for. I like to think out of the box and give the residence a chance to reach their full potential. They are my second family.
I feel privileged to work with such inspiring people here at the Miramar and look forward to a success career as the nurse care manager within Signature.

Client Laision Manager
I previously worked in on a luxury holiday home park helping families to make important lifestyle changes that could improve their quality of time together.
I am excited to be here at the Miramar helping families and individuals that have care needs or just want a lifestyle change to see how they and their loved ones lives can be enriched with us.
My role is inviting people to come and meet our fantastic team that along with me can offer some much needed advice and support at a time that can be emotionally difficult.
I have worked for the Miramar for almost seven years. The first five years as a carer, then in the brand new role of clinical administrator for another year, before embarking on this amazing role which allows me to capitalise on all my knowledge and experience.
I believe that a good home, choice and a supportive community are key to enjoying later life, and in this position I have the opportunity to support new residents through this transition period.
Since leaving school in 1995, I worked in administrative roles and built my knowledge in a plethora of industries including the motor trade. In 2006 I decided to take a year out and completed a working holiday in Australia to include some exciting travels to New Zealand, Hong Kong and Thailand. Upon my return, I explored a new career path within HR and subsequently completed my CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice whilst working for Premier Foods, manufacturer of the likes of Cuppa Soup and Bisto. I gained essential skills during my time here and soon progressed from an Administrator to Officer which later led to me securing a Senior Advisor role at an electronic repair centre in Ashford, home at the time to over 1100 temp and perm staff. I was promoted after only 4 months to HR Manager and am extremely proud of my achievements. I have just relocated to Ramsgate and looking forward to new and exciting challenges as part of the Miramar team.
I first became interested in the care industry in 2002, when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. After spending time visiting her in a care home, I soon realised that going into care, in an unknown environment, can be a very anxious time for the resident and family members.
My career at the time was working for Royal Mail, an office-based job dealing with recruitment, HR and wages.
After 14 years working there, I realised it was time for a change and became passionate about good care in care homes. I started working as a PA to the manager of a 80 bedded care home, where I got to meet the residents and families and also got involved in their daily lives.
I completed my managerial qualifications after 7 years in that job, after which I left to manage a small 20 bedded home for just over 3 years.
I first came to The Miramar in 2014, as and Activities Co-Ordinator, and have enjoyed every minute of making a difference to a resident’s life on a daily basis.
My name is Maria and I have worked for the Miramar for 12 years. I commenced employment initially as a care assistant and was with the team for 8 years, of which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I have 3 sons, 2 of which have mental health issues. The long shifts expected in the carer role did not work well around my home life and responsibilities. Therefore, when a vacancy arose within the housekeeping team, I jumped at the opportunity as did not want to leave The Miramar.
I then had the best of both worlds as worked in a part-time role within the housekeeping, which allowed me to be able to continue the care of my boys whilst enjoying my role.
Now that my children are older and are not so dependent on me, I have been able to work full time for the past 2 years and was promoted to the role of housekeeping supervisor in 2016. A role I am still enjoying very much.
It gives me great satisfaction knowing that myself and my wonderful team take pride in our work to give a good standard of service to our residents, and it is always a pleasure to come to work.
I joined the Signature Miramar in May 2015 as the Maintenance Manager.
Prior to this position I was the Maintenance Manager for a group of hotels in Kent.
I live with my partner and 4 children in Deal Kent and am an avid football fan and support Tottenham Hotspur FC.
I feel honoured to be at an award winning home and part of the management team.
