Frequently Asked Questions

Essential information about choosing our luxury care homes

Does my weekly rental fee include care?

Your weekly rental includes two well-being visits per day, but does not include any care. This is worked out based on the feedback from your assessment and is reviewed monthly.

Is there a maximum that I will pay for care or nursing needs?

Should you need nursing and care to this level, we work with the local authority to have your extra needs funded.

What happens if I run out of money?

We would strongly advise that before choosing to move in to one of our Signature Communities that you seek financial advice to understand your financial position. However, we will work with you to ensure that the local authority finds an alternative option for you should you end up in this position.

How sound proof are the apartments?

Our buildings are fit for purpose and designed to the highest standards. You should not experience external noise whilst in your apartment.

Are all the apartments self-catering?

Each site is slightly different, but on the whole, one and two bed apartments have a form of kitchenette, whilst studio apartments tend not to have.

Are all apartments en suite?

Yes, all apartments at our luxury care homes have been designed to include a modern wet room.

Do all the care homes offer a choice of menu?

At Signature we pride ourselves on the quality and flexibility we offer our residents with our food offering. The menu offers both hot and cold breakfast options, a three course meal at lunch and a wide variety of choices in the evening.

Each day at lunch time there is a Special of the Day, as well as 3 choices from the standard menu. We can also cater for food allergies and special food requirements.

Is the staff training linked to a national scheme?

We ensure that we only employ team members that are qualified for their position. Once employed, they participate in a training programme based on the requirements of their position.

The training we offer is all accredited, and is reviewed regularly. We tend to work with local companies that offer personal training that meets our high standards.

How do I know that I will get the assistance I need?

We will conduct a full assessment before you move in, and a recommended care and/or nursing programme will be proposed to you. This will try as far as possible to incorporate your personal choices.

This is a document that is signed by both parties and we do our best to work within your plan.

If I am unwell for a short period of time, will I have access to support without having to wait for a new agreement to be signed?

Our residents come first and as part of our service, you will be cared for as your needs change. Should your needs increase permanently we would look at altering your package. We do review care requirements monthly as part of our service to ensure that you are getting the care you require.

What types of social activities are provided?

We offer a range of social activities including exercise, entertainment, and a number of clubs, such as gardening, wine tasting, bridge, flower arranging etc. We try to have off site excursions regularly and look to the residents for ideas as well.

What sort of transport is available?

We have one vehicle – a 16 seater to accommodate different requirements and activities. Should you require a personal trip then we have an arrangement with a local taxi company, but the journey would be at your own expense.

Do we get to participate in the running of the community?

We encourage all residents to attend a variety of forums to ensure that the community is run according to their wishes. This includes a monthly residents meeting, food and beverage committees and a Health and Safety meeting. The General Manager is also always available for feedback and there are suggestion cards that can be completed at any time.

Do people use the community for day care?

In some of our communities we have day care residents. They have their own facilities unless someone is joining us to get a feel for the community with the aim of moving in permanently.

Is there any continence support?

We work with the local district nurse and GP service to ensure that your requirements are met.

Is my personal linen washed with my bed linen?

We wash personal and bed linen separately. We utilise a tagging process to ensure that your linen is clearly marked. All items are washed according to washing requirements.

Can I bring my own bed linen?

We encourage people to bring whatever makes their environment feel like home, and this includes linen.

Are all areas connected for Wifi?

The communal areas at our luxury care homes are linked to Wifi (apart from South Lodge and Miramar), but you will need to get your own broadband connection for your apartment.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Our apartments are unfurnished, so you will need to bring your own furniture.
